Can you please add an optional 4 - 6 digit pin to the app as this way it allows users to add an extra layer of security if they want.
Also being able to set disappearing messages from 1min - 1week and a “never delete” option like Signal would also be an excellent idea. Senders and receivers should have independent control over their own copy of the message. EG sender cannot force receivers copy of message to be purged after a set amount of time.
Auto-deleting messages are requested a lot and I think they will eventually be added.

Absolutely. Both people would consent before entering into an “ephemeral” conversation.
Also a setting to delete messages locally after a time would be great, this could be a feature request for the apps.
Regarding a PIN for the apps, you can make a feature request on https://git.jami.net if you want, but as a temporary workaround, on both iOS and Android you can set a PIN for the app in the OS settings.

Indeed, the messenger lacks disappearing messages. From a security standpoint, this is one of the most requested features.
Please add this feature.
I think vanishing messages and one-time view images/videos/voice notes would bring Jami up to feature parity with the likes of Signal/Telegram/Whatsapp and it will be easier to get people to adopt it.
I don’t know if a pin is necessary.
