Jami Transmission Optimization Solution Based on Fusion Plugin of Local TURN and QUIC
1. Background and Problem Statement
In current Jami communication scenarios, the ICE negotiation process exposes the following core issues:
- IPv6 Direct Connection Failure: All IPv6 candidate addresses with the
240a:prefix provided by the peer are rejected during ICE negotiation, and connections can only be established via IPv4 relay paths. The root causes include the lack of corresponding prefix addresses locally, inbound ACL interception by ISPs, and the absence of IPv6 TURN fallback. - Single Transport Protocol: ICE negotiation in Jami only supports TCP transport. In cross-ISP, cross-region, and high-packet-loss network environments, TCP’s head-of-line blocking problem fails to deliver ideal transmission quality.
- Strong Relay Dependence: The only currently successful connection pair relies on external TURN relay servers, which introduce additional forwarding latency and bandwidth bottlenecks, and are limited by the availability and service quality of relay servers.
