Duplicate contacts and missing conversations after adding account to a new device

Per the subject, I’m seeing duplicate contacts with empty conversation histories after importing account to a new device whether by QR code or authentication code

Device and Jami version account exported from:

MacOS sequoia 15.6

Jami Atlas Build ID 2025100112

Device and Jami version account imported to:

iOS 18.7.1

Jami Atlas 4.00(20251021)

This version of Jami is experiencing issues; please try updating to version 472.

Update your software

I’m running the latest versions.

I’ve been monitoring the backend as it builds the new version. Perhaps within a few hours or two to three days, a new version will be available—at least for Android.

This isn’t a major issue; in fact, it resolves itself whenever Jami attempts to synchronise messages and the recipient is online. Naturally, this isn’t particularly convenient either,

as I don’t check my email frequently, meaning replies tend to be delayed.

I’m not using Android

Missing conversations in a messenger is a major issue.

Let me explain it fully. The account information on a new device only includes the list of members for each conversation, while the chat history (in the corresponding Git repository) needs to be transferred from other connected devices. In the versions I’ve seen, such uninitialized chats would show the name of one of the members (the rule is still a mystery). This is not a duplication; their identifiers are all different.

Thanks for that explanation but it is a duplication. The names in the list of chats are duplicated.

Wait, do you mean that the duplicate items show other people’s display names, not just the registered usernames? That really exceeds my expectations.
