Hi everyone!
First off thank you so much for Jami, I really love it — especially that it’s private and decentralized. I wanted to suggest a small UI improvement that would make sharing photos a lot nicer!! If I send, say, 5 photos at once, they show up as 5 separate messages. It floods the chat and I have to scroll a lot.
I would love:
- Grouped album / folder-style grid
When you select multiple images at once, group them into one bubble:
- 2 images = side by side
- 3 images = 1 on top, 2 below
- 4+ images = 2x2 grid, and if more than 4 show “+3” on the last thumbnail like Telegram/WhatsApp does
Tap it and it opens the gallery.
- Swipe through gallery
And when you open any image, let us swipe left/right to next/previous photo like on Twitter. Right now I have to close one and open the next one.
Combined it would be: select 4 vacation photos → they appear as a 2x2 grid in chat → tap → swipe through them.
I share a lot of family photos and right now I have to make a collage myself before sending.
I tried to post this on git.jami.net but I get “New accounts are not permitted. Please contact a GitLab administrator” and when I try Sign in with GitLab.com I get 422 Email already taken. So posting here.
Thanks again for all your work on Jami! Happy to test if needed.
