OK. So, a message to the developers: remove Jami availability from IOS for now to avoid getting a poor reputation undeservedly. Reinstate availability once a work-around is found.
Very sadly, Jami really does not work well on Apple. It isn’t Jami, it’s the way Apple treats things. There are other posts on here regarding this. No Apple user I’ve encountered has got iOS to allow Jami to work properly.
It really seems to vary but the more you use it, the better it seems to function, but if you don’t use it for a while then Apple definitely puts it into a deep sleep.
Interestingly, someone that I persuaded to use it told me they get messages via notification on their Apple watch but when they go to look at Jami on their phone they sometimes don’t see the message.
I put that down to Apple’s notification system always being alert, so picking up the notifications, but that doesn’t result in Jami waking up and receiving the message.
Another thing that’s often noted by people, Jami doesn’t receive messages until you send messages.
Similarly, I sometimes wake it up by toggling settings (turning account off and on again, toggling connectivity configurations e.g. enable local peer discovery, use PNP) on and off to wake it up and start receiving messages again.
