Is Jami limiting itself to local exchanges as soon as possible?

Hello, I was looking today for some way to have exchanges at home (daughter covid-positive stuck in her room 1st floor!) without messages going around the earth twice :grinning: , and someone on Ubuntu forum mentioned that Jami was working on a local network when no internet connection is available
=> is it OK? and does it mean also that when internet connection exists, messages remain « local », be them text or visioconférence involving several people on this local network?
Thanks by advance for your answers
(To me this should be also a nice advertising in terms of « eco-friendlyness », am I wrong?)

PS: we tried immediately, and at least it is a nice instant messenger tool, simple, powerful and user-friendly!
