Issues launching Debian Client

I am able to get Jami to install successfully via the apt repository.

After installing the client, when I launch via typing ‘jami’ in command line, I receive:

“notify server name: Xfce Notify Daemon, vendor: Xfce, version: 0.4.3, spec: 1.2”
Destroying connectivity monitor"

If I use ‘sudo jami’

QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to ‘/tmp/runtime-root’

Is this an issue with xfce? could not find much info searching for any of this

thanks

Hello,

You should run Jami as your own user, not root (you’re trying to run it as root by using sudo jami).

So, in the terminal, you should just use jami. Alternatively, since you use Xfce, you should be able to open the Applications menu on your panel, then under the Internet category you should see an entry for Jami, which you can click to launch Jami.
