Hello, thank you for testing Jami with voip.ms. if you select UDP in the first configuration screen (the one you enter your voip.ms server and username) you can make phone calls with Jami. I’ve just tested it. We’ll cotact voip.ms to update their wiki accordingly.
Here is what I expect in the instructions Wiki for Jami on Android or other OS :
Looking forward for an improved set of instructions. In particular I hope the instructions will provide a reliable phone service. See side note below.
As a side note, I have setup a Pixel 9 with Jami with a voip.ms account, with push notifications using ntfy. I installed both Jami and ntfy from F-Droid.
I have issues with missed notifications after a while.
For example, if the phone has been idle for a long time, it does not react to incoming DID calls.
I then try to awaken the phone by turning on the display.
The incoming DID calls are still missed.
If I then open the Pixel 9 past the lock screen, then incoming DID calls show up to Jami.
Further investigation is needed.
Thank you !
Another topic missing from the Voip.ms configuration Wiki :
Explain how does the Android Daemon for Jami uses UDP ( or other transports e.g. TLS ) and that TCP does not seem available.
Explain how to interpret the registration status for Jami, even when push notifications are used.
Your domain should be set to the SIP server address, and the username needs to match your SIP account. Make sure outbound proxy and authentication name match too, or calls might fail.
The old instructions just don’t match the current interface. Ended up figuring it out by testing different settings and then checked a few calls through activecalls to make sure everything went through cleanly. It worked perfectly once the right server and port were set.
Can you update the article of the https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Jami page?
Alternative, can you please write a “Configure your SIP account” article that can be added to the User manual on the Jami Documentation website?
Thank you
Hi ovari
At this time, I ceased using Jami for Voip calls because it has a show-stopper bug.
I now rely on other Voip applications.
Furthermore, I don’t think I have the rights to update the voip.ms wiki.
