I had a jami account that unfortunately I lost the backup, I created a new account and tested it looking for the old one (mooncakke) and it is still active, but I can’t access it, I tried with a file that I found by chance, but the password gives an error when trying to log in, can you delete this old account from the jami database?
Jami accounts are only stored on users devices. The only information stored on the nameserver is the association between the username and the Jami ID (hexadecimal ID). There is no way to ensure that users who claim the ownership of a username actually owned that username if their device (and private key) is lost and there is no backup. If we accept deletion requests, it can lead to abuse: anyone could ask to delete any username and then recreate it in Jami to impersonate the original user. It can lead to social engineering, personal data theft, etc. Since privacy and security are primary goals of Jami we cannot proceed to delete a username without proof of ownership. The good news is that nobody can use that original username. If you create a new Jami username, please make sure you have a backup of your account.
