Noise gate filter?

Hello there. Due to recent events regarding Discord, my friends and I have been trying voice chat software to migrate to. We tried Jami and liked how simple it was, but we had the issue of our keystrokes and other minor noises being transmitted through our microphones.

So far, we have only found a single FOSS app that does noise gate filtering, and that is Mumble. Every other app has many different knobs and levers for noise suppression, but they are ineffective compared to a good old noise gate.

So, I was wondering, how difficult would it be to implement such a thing?

Which operating system does this occur on? For example, Linux Mint Debian Edition 7.

Which installation method? For example, a DEB installation file or a Flatpak from Flathub?
