Good evening everybody - hoping for some help here.
I’m logged in on an Android phone, and I’m trying to “import from another device” in Jami on my Linux Mint PC. It’s asking for a PIN code, but I can’t seem to find anywhere to get that PIN on the Android phone.
Has anyone run into this? Any ideas what I should do next?
Turned out the linking (QR/PIN) failures weren’t a bug in the pairing flow; one device had Jami installed from the default Ubuntu/Mint repo, which pulls a very outdated build (Dec 2023), while the other was on a recent build from the official dl.jami.net repo.
Fix: removed the distro package, added the official Jami APT repo (dl.jami.net), reinstalled; linking worked immediately after.
Might be worth a docs note warning that apt install jami on Ubuntu/Mint silently pulls from the outdated distro repo unless the official repo is added first. Totally my fault for trying to take the easy way…
