"Send Later" button

Hi

Jami is a great application. Thank you so much for it.

I have a small suggestion: a “Send Later” button. This is useful across time-zones, for example, to delay the arrival of a message until the recipient is awake, at work, or whatever. I’ve used this feature in Thunderbird email client for ages, and it works really well.

Just an idea!

Thanks again.

Hello my friend, you know, Jami is actually a peer-to-peer application. Consequently, when you are offline or your friend is offline, you cannot exchange messages between yourselves. Therefore, this functionality may need to account for both parties being online, which introduces a few more considerations.

Hmm… Yes, I’m aware of how Jami works. My suggestion doesn’t need the recipient to be online at the time of creation, just the sender, so that when the recipient does come online, the accounts synchronise. The sender must remain online until the recipient synchronises, of course, but this would be true anyway.

Therefore the “send later” item would simply wait in a “holding” area until a certain time, at which time Jami “sends” the item, allowing the recipient’s instance to synchronise, and therefore “receive” said item.

It’s probably not too difficult to implement this. As I mentioned, there is an add-on for Thunderbird email client which does this very well. If I were any sort of a programmer, I’d offer to do it!
