I have the whisper extension v1.0.1 installed via the extensions menu and set “Automatically activate transcription” to on. I started a call, and no transcription appeared. During the call, I clicked the extension button and found that the toggle next to the whisper transcription was disabled. When clicked, it enabled and immediately reverted to disabled. Incoming and outgoing voice functioned correctly.
I enabled the View Logs window. I once saw output but nothing related to whisper as far as I could tell, and saw no output when trying to test the call again to copy output. I searched my system for jami logs but was unable to find any. There don’t appear to be any error messages that I can find to get more information from.
Jami 2025.4.15? (cannot find version. exe has sha256 74f55e7b4a9d14bc36cb96d0867c23c8cddf3c625a70e63a912e88833589fcfe)
Hi !
If the plugins deactivate itself it means that it failed to load itself properly. We indeed have logs for that when running Jami with the -d option. Have you already tried reinstalling the plugin ?
We are currently working on a new version of that plugin but it’s not our main focus right now and therefore it should take a bit of time to be available.
Thank you for the update on the plugin. I attempted to find a prebuilt jpl with the new changes but couldn’t, and I also attempted to build it myself with the instructions in the repo, but am also having trouble. Would you be willing to provide a build of it or help me? The reason I’m looking for this plugin so much is that it is a big accessibility aid for me, because I am hard of hearing, and phone calls are difficult to manage and often the only option.
