Looking for Best Practices for Using Jami Across Multiple Devices?

Hi everyone,

I have recently started using Jami for both personal and small team communications. First off—big kudos to the developers and community for keeping this decentralized and secure. I am loving the no-server approach.

That said.., I am hoping to get some guidance on best practices for using Jami across multiple devices. I have linked my account to my desktop and phone.., but I noticed message syncing isn’t always instant or consistent.

Is there a recommended setup or configuration that helps improve sync performance: ?? Are there any known limitations with multi-device setups that I should be aware of: ??

Also.., how secure is the account-linking process when adding new devices: ?? I would love to hear how more experienced users manage Jami in a multi-device environment—especially those using it daily. I have also gone through this thread https://forum.jami.net/t/sync-multiple-devices/354sap fico course in chennai but couldn’t get any help related to my query.

Thanks in advance for any tips or insights.

Marcelo

In the Jami settings, if you have enabled “Launch at startup” and your desktop computer is always on and connected to the Internet, Jami should synchronize automatically.

Another option is to run Jami for servers.

There is no really good practice. It should work as other apps.

For account linking, since a few version it’s done via a p2p connection without sending the encrypted archive on the DHT, so there is no offline attack like before.

It’s a classic TLS 1.3 link with cypher marked in the logs.
